Our Services

Six Forks Animal Hospital is your choice of excellence for routine and surgical care of your pet.  Our hospital has been providing veterinary care in North Raleigh since 1967.

 Preventative Medicine
In order to provide early detection of congenital problems and infectious diseases, new puppy and kitten examinations are strongly recommended before exposure to other pets.  This also allows us to set a schedule of vaccinations and discuss the proper care of your new pet.  We also encourage owners to ask any questions they may have about their new family member.

Annual Examinations
Annual physical examinations provide early detection and treatment of problems.  Vaccinations, parasite detection, and dispensing of preventative medications are handled at each annual visit.  These exams may sometimes include diagnostic procedures such as lab work and x-rays, all of which are performed right here at our hospital.

Dentistry
Dental care is very important for your pets.  In left unmanaged, dental problems can lead to bad breath, mouth pain, and loss of teeth.  Ultimately, chronic dental disease can result in heart and kidney disease.  We offer teeth cleaning, polishing, and fluoride treatments.  We can also perform necessary extractions, periodontal services, and oral surgeries.

 Surgery
Surgery is performed in-house Tuesday through Friday.  A wide variety of surgeries are performed using high quality anesthetics such as isoflurane gas.   We refer surgical procedures requiring very specialized equipment or training to North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine or other board certified veterinary surgeons.  We offer pre-anesthetic blood work for all patients.

Bathing
Baths, dips, and nail trims are available Monday through Friday.  We also provide medicated baths for dogs and cats with special skin disorders.

Boarding
Indoor and air-conditioned boarding is available year-round for cats and dogs.  Boarders are checked regularly by the vets and staff members to assure their well-being during their stay.  All boarded pets are fed and medicated according to your specifications.  If your animal is on any medications or a special diet, you must bring those items with you.  For the safety of your pet and to assist us in maintaining order at our boarding facilities, we request that you not bring toys, blankets, or other items unless they are necessary.

Special services or medical procedures can be performed while your pet is boarding if a request is made prior to boarding.   Proof of current vaccinations is required for all boarders to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.  Dogs and cats are required to be current on rabies, distemper, and bordetella.  If your pet is not current, we can give the vaccinations while the pet is boarding.  We request a twenty-four (24) hour cancellation notice or a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged.  Our facilities tend to fill up quickly during holiday and summer boarding, so please call early for reservations.

Sunday Pick-Ups
When boarding your pet with us, we now offer Sunday pick-ups between 5:00 pm and 5:45 pm by request.
